How to Identify Ancient Bronze Chandelier
Many homeowners love the bronze and want to get genuine, such as lighting, authentic pieces lamps and chandeliers. You may feel the same, but worried about being cheated to buy an imitation or cheap piece plated brass. Most antique bronze chandelier is solid, while the majority of new parts are not. Research and practice some tricks that will tell you the true value of the chandeliers.
Instructions to identify ancient bronze chandelier: clean the chandelier with a soft cloth. The solid brass should be cleaned easily with just a little effort. If the dirt does not rise even with vigorous rubbing may rust and non-bronze candelabra.
Touch a magnet to the clean side of the chandelier. If it sticks, it is not sparsely plated brass or bronze. If the magnet falls, the candlestick is probably authentic bronze, and the bronze is not magnetic.
Turn the chandelier. Scraping the bottom with a safety pin, pin or tack which will not be displayed. Examine the color inside the stripe; white or silver means that no brass or bronze plating and bright yellow means it’s a real solid bronze chandelier.
